1534307_10152167715999891_7392756061753652374_nThis recipe comes together quickly and you can adjust the heat…me I love it extra spicy but this recipe is pretty mild. To make it hot just add more cayenne pepper and jalapeño.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes w juice (canned is perfect)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt n pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • Crispy taco shells, soft corn tortilla shells
  • Chopped Lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar, chopped jalapeño, chopped cilantro, diced onion all for toppings. Some lime wedges for a squeeze of lime juice and of course hot sauce.

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet brown the meat breaking it up with a heavy spoon. Drain off excess fat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, tomatoes and the juice, cayenne, chili powder and water.
  3. Stir everything together, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste for salt, pepper add if needed, add the 1/2 cup cilantro stir and continue to cook uncovered stirring every couple minutes for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat the shells and serve with all the topping on the side and a bottle of hot sauce.
