My Classic Taco Recipe!
This recipe comes together quickly and you can adjust the heat…me I love it extra spicy but this recipe is pretty mild. To make it hot just add more cayenne pepper and jalapeño.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 cup diced tomatoes w juice (canned is perfect)
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 pound ground beef lean
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt n pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- Crispy taco shells, soft corn tortilla shells
- Chopped Lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar, chopped jalapeño, chopped cilantro, diced onion all for toppings. Some lime wedges for a squeeze of lime juice and of course hot sauce.
Directions:
- In a large skillet brown the meat breaking it up with a heavy spoon. Drain off excess fat.
- Add onion, garlic, tomatoes and the juice, cayenne, chili powder and water.
- Stir everything together, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste for salt, pepper add if needed, add the 1/2 cup cilantro stir and continue to cook uncovered stirring every couple minutes for 10 minutes.
- Heat the shells and serve with all the topping on the side and a bottle of hot sauce.
