Stovetop Pizza Bake
Wondering what to make for dinner tonight? No need to heat up the oven for this recipe, because it happens on the stove, and it is delicious.
You’ll need for 4 servings:
- 1/2 pound of pasta any pasta
- 1 28 oz can whole plum tomatoes crushed with your hands
- 2 tbs butter
- 2 tbs olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves sliced
- 1/2 cup loose packed basil leaves
- 1/2 cup grated Romano or Parmigiano cheese plus more for the finished dish
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- Add the oil and garlic to a skillet large enough to hold the finished recipe. Put the heat to medium. When the garlic turns light golden, add the tomatoes, butter, water, and most of the basil (save some basil for the finished recipe).
- Lower the heat to low cook the sauce, stirring along the way for 15 minutes
- While this is happening, prepare the pasta in boiling water for the recommended time. Strain and add it to the sauce.
- Add the grated cheese and shredded mozzarella, then fold it all together. Cover with a lid, lower the heat to very low, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Remove from the heat. Do not remove the lid for 2 more minutes. After removing the lid, sprinkle on grated cheese. Add some basil and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, then serve.
