Pizza Dough
My Facebook friend Timothy ask for a pizza dough recipe. There are so many ways to make dough but this is my standby basic that is really good pizza dough.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups King Arthur all purpose un bleached flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar…this will help create a crispy crust
Directions:
- In a bowl put 1.5 cups of warm water about 110 degrees and add one package of active dry yeast.
- Let this sit for 1 minute and then stir.
- In either a mixer or in a bowl mix
- Stir the yeast again and slowly add to the flour mixture If you are using a mixer with a dough hook mix dough until it is fully mixed.
- If you are mixing by hand mix it in the bowl until the dough is formed.
- Put the dough on a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until the dough is elastic and smooth
- You can add more flour if needed but add very little at a time.
- Put a small amount of olive oil in a bowl and with a paper napkin coat the entire bowl.
- Put your dough in the bowl and turn it to coat the dough.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.
- This could take up to 2 hours. When you make the pizza make sure to not over work the dough and use a super hot pizza stone.
