Pasta e PiselliPasta and Peas

There are many versions of this Italian recipe and that’s the best part about Grandma Cooking every Grandmother has a great recipe for the same dish.

You will need: 

  • 1-28 ounce can Whole Italian Plum Tomatoes crushed by hand
  • 1/2-cup chopped onions
  • 2- garlic cloves sliced
  • 1-tbs of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1- cup of frozen peas, thawed.
  • Your favorite pasta.

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet 12″-13″ heat the olive oil then sauté the onions and garlic for 2 minutes until the onions are translucent and the garlic is golden.
  2. Now add the Hand crushed tomatoes and all the juice. Bring this to a boil then lower the heat to a simmer and allow this simmer for 20 min.
  3. Now add the peas and continue to simmer for 5 more minutes.
  4. Cook your pasta 2 minutes short of the recommended time, strain and add the pasta to the sauce.
  5. Finish the pasta in the sauce until it is done. Serve with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some grated pecorino Romano cheese.
