Homemade BBQ sauce
Make it for yourself or bring it as a BBQ gift! If you are having a BBQ this weekend you will love this sauce. If you are going to a BBQ make a batch chill it down and put in a simple mason jar, make a homemade label and bring it as a gift. Your friends will love it.
This sauce is perfect for for beef, chicken, pork, vegetables as well as grilled fruit!
You will need:
- 1 cup Balsamic vinegar
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 small or one large garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon minced habanero or other hot pepper (if you don’t want a little heat, don’t add the pepper!)
Directions:
- Whisk all the ingredients in a bowl.
- Simmer in a small pot over medium heat until the BBQ sauce thickens and has reduced by 1/3 or 1/2 for a thicker more concentrated sauce.
I use this on pork, beef, chicken and vegetables like zucchini, eggplant and heads of romaine lettuce. Also great on grilled fruit like pineapple and peaches! Be creative this sauce is delicious and will work on many grilled foods.
