Grandma Style Sweet Potatoes
- 4 pounds sweet potatoes peeled and then cut into 1/2″ pieces
- 1/2 stick un salted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
- I use a large cast iron skillet to make this. Pre heat your oven to 400 degrees.
- Stove top melt the butter in the skillet then add all the sweet potatoes, salt and turn to coat with the butter. Allow this to cook for about 5 minutes, do not burn the butter. Keep the heat low.
- Now add the maple syrup and turn to coat all the potatoes. Allow this to cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes turning to coat the potatoes every couple minutes.
- Add the brown sugar and turn to coat the potatoes and then place the skillet into the oven to finish cooking. I let mine go for 30-45 minutes until they are completely done.
- Remove from the oven and mash the potatoes.
