Baked Apples
It’s apple season and trust me, make these baked apples ASAP. These are perfect hot as a side dish, hot as a desert as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, cold a any way you wanna eat them.
Make 1 apple per person I use Braeburn, Fuji, gala or honey crisp but any apple will work so use apples you love or mix them up!
You will need:
- Apples
- Brown sugar
- Butter
- Lemon peel
- Vanilla beans
- Cinnamon sticks
You can make these ahead of time and heat them but don’t plan on it because once you bake the apples the aroma is gonna make you nuts and you will dive right in
Directions:
- Pre heat the oven to 350.
- Core the apples and place in a baking dish.
- Fill the apples with brown sugar and stick in a cinnamon stick, 1/2 vanilla bean and a slice of lemon peel in each apple.
- Place 1/2 tablespoon butter on top of each apple and place the apples in the oven.
- Baste every 15 minutes until done. Now done is a matter of opinion as I like mine really done but if you like them not as done then you will probably remove them at 30 min. I keep mine going for 45 min to an hour.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean before serving. Serve with the sauce that will be in the pan.
