Gemelli Pasta with Meat Sauce
This is a great sauce for a Sunday family dinner and it comes together in just an hour. It’s gonna fill your home with that Sunday Grandma-must-be-cooking aroma. And everyone loves that! This sauce freezes really well, for another day.
You’ll need:
- 1 lb.ground beef
- 8-oz. Baby Bella mushrooms chopped
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 28 can whole Italian tomatoes crushed by hand
- 1/4 chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Brown the meat in a skillet breaking it up as it
browns. - Drain all but 1-tbs of fat.
- Push the ground beef to one side of the skillet add
the oil to the other side and saute the onion until it is
translucent. - Add the garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms
begin to release their liquid. - Add tomatoes, oregano and parsley.
- Season with salt and pepper. Cover and simmer
over low for 1 hour. - Cook the pasta 2 minutes short of recommended
time, strain and add right to the sauce. Fold the
pasta into the sauce on a low heat for two minutes. - Serve with grated cheese and a sprinkle of fresh
chopped parsley.
