Gemelli Pasta with Meat Sauce

This is a great sauce for a Sunday family dinner12669462_10153484894959891_4448448759145306343_n and it comes together in just an hour. It’s gonna fill your home with that Sunday Grandma-must-be-cooking aroma. And everyone loves that! This sauce freezes really well, for another day.

You’ll need:

  • 1 lb.ground beef
  • 8-oz. Baby Bella mushrooms chopped
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 28 can whole Italian tomatoes crushed by hand
  • 1/4 chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Brown the meat in a skillet breaking it up as it
    browns.
  2. Drain all but 1-tbs of fat.
  3. Push the ground beef to one side of the skillet add
    the oil to the other side and saute the onion until it is
    translucent.
  4. Add the garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms
    begin to release their liquid.
  6. Add tomatoes, oregano and parsley.
  7. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and simmer
    over low for 1 hour.
  8. Cook the pasta 2 minutes short of recommended
    time, strain and add right to the sauce. Fold the
    pasta into the sauce on a low heat for two minutes.
  9. Serve with grated cheese and a sprinkle of fresh
    chopped parsley.
