Turkey

TurkeyGot a request for how to cook a Turkey without a lot of fuss. So I’ll go back to my Grandma Style of cooking and this is how I would do it.

Directions:

  1. First, I would remove the giblets, neck etc.
  2. Then I would dry the turkey with some paper towels and then put it on my baking pan and place it on the counter to come to room temperature, one hour, this is very important as it is impossible to cook a cold turkey properly.
  3. I take one stick of un salted butter that is at room temperature and I rub it all over the outside and inside of the turkey.
  4. Tie the legs together and tuck the wings in.
  5. Salt and pepper the outside and inside.
  6. Put a tent of tin foil over the breast and place the turkey into a pre heated 450 degree oven for 30 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350 and baste the turkey every 30 minutes until done. Place a thermometer into the thigh and look for 165 degrees. When it’s done remove it from the oven.
  7. Let the turkey sit for about 20-30 minutes before you carve it. If you want a crispier skin remove the foil 30 minutes before it’s done.

I have a many other recipes but this a very simple one and the turkey is always delicious.
