Southwest Turkey Burgers
This recipe is amazing and I have played around with it many times to get it where I love it because turkey burgers can be boring. These are packed with flavor and setting up the toppings bar is a great way to have everyone customize them!
You’ll need:
- 1 lb of ground turkey
- 1/2 cup chopped onion,
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 4 garlic cloves minced
- 1 small jalapeño pepper cleaned and minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Canola oil
Directions:
- In a bowl mix all the ingredients except the canola oil
- Make your patties (I use a cast iron skillet but grilling them works great too)
- Salt and pepper the patties and brush some canola oil on them
- Pre heat the skillet until it is hot and add a couple tsp of the oil
- Place the patties into the hot skillet and let them sit for a few minutes until they release easily and are nicely browned
- Flip and cook the other side
- Look for a temperature of 170 degrees
- Serve on hamburger buns with a selection of toppings on the side
I like shredded cheddar cheese, sliced tomato, chopped cilantro, lime wedges for a squeeze, salsa, chopped jalapeño and slices of avocado.
